Daylight

Defined in: packages/engine/src/render/daylight.ts:258

Everything one hour of the day looks like.

Property Type Description
bandColor Color What the warm band is coloured: the sun’s own light reddened by the air it has crossed, which is what that band physically is. The key light no longer takes this. The reddening is worked out at the ground’s own elevation, so it goes on falling all the way to a pure red as the sun reaches the horizon — which reads on the sky as a sunset and on the heroine standing under it as a red glow. Daniel’s call: the band keeps it and she does not. The light is a constant colour with a falling intensity, and the cloud layer has its own reddening beside this one, read off a lifted elevation.
bandShare number How much of the warm band’s peak this hour shows, nought to one. The peak itself is a setting rather than an hour’s doing, so it is applied where the band is drawn and not here — otherwise nothing tuning that setting could reach the band, which is written from this every frame.
cloudColor Color What the cloud layer is coloured: the sun’s colour where the sun reaches it, the night colour where it does not.
direction Vector3 Which way the sun is, from the ground.
exposure number The renderer’s tone-mapping exposure.
